Class Descriptions
Age categories are guidelines only. Dancers are placed according to their skill level.Young dancers learn simple ballet exercises at the barre and across the floor while developing coordination, musicality, muscle memory, and proper technique. Creative games and improvisational dancing encourage self-expression, movement, and a love of ballet.
Students continue building their ballet technique through exercises at the barre and in the center. Dance combinations strengthen muscles, improve flexibility, develop coordination, and build memory. Students also begin learning the skills and artistry needed to prepare for stage performances.
Students progress through more advanced ballet exercises at the barre, in the center, and across the floor. Classes build balance, core strength, flexibility, and coordination while introducing longer dance combinations. Students also develop musicality, artistry, and expression as they strengthen their classical ballet technique.
Students advance their ballet technique through more complex combinations, including multiple pirouettes, batterie, and turns and jumps across the floor. Classes also strengthen musicality and artistic expression while encouraging dancers to develop confidence and individuality in their movement.
Students build the core, foot, and ankle strength needed to prepare for pointe work. Dancers must demonstrate proper alignment, strength, and correct form on relevé before progressing to pointe class.
Students begin with warm-up and barre exercises on pointe, progressing from two-foot relevés to one-foot exercises. They develop their skills through basic to intermediate pointe combinations in the center and across the floor, with a strong focus on proper technique, smooth transitions, musicality, and artistic expression.

Fantastic studio. My daughter has been dancing with them since she was 4. Affordable and classy.

I have taken ballet from Lois for over 30 years! She is the most creative, musical and positive ballet teacher you could wish to study from. She has a wealth of experience from which she shares with her students. I can’t say enough good things about Lois Ellyn!

Legendary. Teachers are amazing and community is very welcoming. Students are very eager to learn as well. Most of students stay over years long.

I took my first ballet class in over 10 years and it was fun but challenging! I really enjoy the instructor Sheree, and the studio was very welcoming. We started with some stretches, barre work, center floor combos and finished with across the floor work. The combinations were very creative and kept me on my toes. The studio reminded me of my old school ballet classes, except without being forced to wear pink tights! I’m pretty sure my whole body will hurt tomorrow! I highly recommend!
Beginner Ballet
The teachers are friendly and knowledgeable. Lots of experience and teaching proper technique to girls and guys.
